Wildfires on the slopes of Cape Town's Table Mountain. 90% of the the fire had been contained
Several neighborhoods in Cape Town were evacuated due to the vast fire spreading on the slopes of the famous Table Mountain fueled by strong winds. Fire-fighting helicopters dropped water on areas where the fire smoked on the mountain. About 90% of the fire had been contained, the Table Mountain National Park authority said. Wildfires are common during the dry summer months, but an investigation will be soon conducted. The University of Cape Town appeared to have suffered the most damage; like part of the library containing manuscripts of African studies.
