The 33-year-old kidnapped and killed last week by agent of the Metropolitan Police

Numerous people paid tribute to Sarah Everard, the 33-year-old kidnapped and killed last week in London. Demonstrators lay down in Parliament Square to protest over the abduction and murder of Sarah Everard and the subsequent handling by the police of a vigil honoring the victim.

The agents were greeted with contempt by those present at the vigil, as Everard’s alleged killer is 48-year-old Wayne Couzens, an agent of the Metropolitan Police itself. The man is in prison he is accused of kidnapping and murder. Everard went missing after last being seen walking home from a friend’s apartment in south London on the night of March 3.  She was found dead a week later in a wooded area. The case has rekindled the debate on women’s safety and gender-based violence, kicking off the ‘Reclaim These Streets’ movement, let’s take back the streets, to affirm the right of women to live safely in public spaces.
