The earthquake killed at least 80 people and displaced thousands

An earthquake of magnitude 6.2 struck South Sulawesi province, killing at least 80 people and over 30,000 left their homes. With thousands displaced, authorities were also working to distribute relief goods.

The first days of 2021 brought a string of disasters to the Southeast Asian country. Aside from the earthquake, Indonesia suffered on Jan. 9 of a plane crush that killed 62 people as well as the eruption of  Semeru volcano.
