To celebrate the Hindu feast of Makar Sankranti people has gathered all day despite the pandemic

Hundreds of Hindus gathered on the banks of the Ganges, in Prayagraj, to celebrate the feast of Makar Sankranti, an auspicious day when people offer greetings to the sun. A dip in the river on this day is regarded as a sacred rite by Hindus. Devotees have flocked to the banks of the Ganges since early morning, despite the pandemic. The police were also present and repeatedly asked people to follow virus protection protocols.
