The television footage showed relatives and friends of people on board the plane crying, praying and hugging each other as they waited at Jakarta airport and Pontianak airport.
The airline said the aircraft flew an estimated 90-minute route from Jakarta to Pontianak, the capital of West Kalimantan province on the island of Borneo in Indonesia.
