Turin, 11 Sept. (LaPresse) – George Russell set the fastest time in the first free practice session of the Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix, held for the first time on Madrid’s street circuit. The Mercedes driver clocked a time of 1’34″077, finishing 286 thousandths ahead of his team-mate and championship leader Kimi Antonelli. The two Ferraris followed, with Charles Leclerc third, 459 thousandths behind, and Lewis Hamilton fourth, 543 thousandths behind. Fifth place went to Max Verstappen’s Red Bull, with Lando Norris sixth in the McLaren. The second free practice session is scheduled for 5.00 pm.
