I’m calm, but we need to improve.” These were the words of Luis Enrique, manager of European champions PSG, on the eve of their Champions League opener against Slovan Bratislava at the Parc des Princes. PSG are not in their best form, having picked up just two points from three Ligue 1 matches and already conceded six goals. “Everyone is excited and motivated to play against us. We have to accept that and step out of our comfort zone. I’m ready to prove that we need to reinvent ourselves every day,” he added. PSG have won the last two editions of the tournament; only Real Madrid (1956–60, 2016–18), Ajax (1971–73) and Bayern Munich (1974–76) have won three in a row. “I’m constantly putting pressure on the team,” added Luis Enrique. “I’d like us to finish among the top eight and avoid the play-offs, but with such a difficult draw, it’s inevitable that we’ll drop points.
