Milan, 23 Aug. (LaPresse) – Josh Sargent and Derrick Etienne Jr. scored two goals in the second half just three minutes apart, securing a 2-1 victory for Toronto FC against Inter Miami. Neither side had managed to find the net until rookie Sargent’s goal in the 59th minute, which put Toronto ahead. Daniel Sallói and Etienne provided the assists for Sargent’s fourth goal of the season. Etienne then scored his third goal of the season, without an assist, three minutes later, extending the lead to 2-0 and helping Toronto secure their first win in Miami. Lionel Messi then pulled one back to make it 2–1 in the 82nd minute with his 14th goal of the season. Luka Gavran made two saves for Toronto (5–7–9). Dayne St. Clair did not make any saves for Inter Miami.
