Turin, Aug. 5 (LaPresse) – Carlos Alcaraz will also miss the Cincinnati Open, the Masters 1000 tournament in Ohio scheduled from Aug. 13 to 23, which he won last year by defeating Jannik Sinner in the final after the Italian was forced to retire because of a virus after five games. “We know Carlos is doing everything possible to return to competing in tournaments as soon as he can,” tournament director Bob Moran said. “We wish him a speedy recovery and hope to welcome him back to Cincinnati in the future.” Alcaraz has not played an official match since facing Finland’s Otto Virtanen in Barcelona on April 14, shortly after reaching the final of the Monte Carlo Masters 1000, where he lost to Jannik Sinner.
