Turin, Aug. 3 (LaPresse) – Fifa president Gianni Infantino asked the Trump administration to help him remain in office and scheduled a phone conversation today with Secretary of State Marco Rubio. This was reported by the New York Post, citing two sources familiar with the matter. The Swiss executive is under pressure due to the wave of criticism he received over his proposal – which has already been abandoned – to create a new company, Fifa Forward Enterprise, open to private investors who could have purchased stakes in major Fifa events, including the World Cup. Since the failure of his project, Infantino has, according to some sources, repeatedly tried to contact Donald Trump by phone without success.
