Rome, 29 July (LaPresse) – “For me, the national team is the crowning glory of my career; I never thought it would happen. When I saw the call from Giovanni (Malagò, ed.), I was at the seaside. I’m very proud; there’s a huge amount of work ahead and the situation is difficult, but my career speaks for itself: I’ve never shied away from a challenge. Two things: to make the fans fall in love with the national team again and to enable children like my 12-year-old nephew to see Italy back at the World Cup.” These were the words of the Azzurri’s new technical director, Claudio Ranieri, at his introductory press conference at the FIGC headquarters in Rome.
