I’ll speak to Rafael, Ramos, Saelemaekers and all the players returning from the World Cup to explain what we’ll be doing. They already know what it means to play for a club like ours. I know there are a lot of rumours about some of our players, but they remain ours until something changes.” Milan manager Ruben Amorim said this during a press conference in Australia, ahead of the friendly matches, regarding the transfer rumours surrounding the Portuguese striker. “The aim is to prepare the team for the first match, and that’s what we’re focusing on. Everyone will train and fight for a place in the team; that’s for sure. There’s nothing new and nothing different. I treat the players differently because they’re all different people, but the rules apply to everyone. It’s quite simple; let’s not overcomplicate things: it’s about training, having fun, helping the team, connecting with the fans and getting the players ready,” added the Portuguese manager. Amorim also spoke about Luka Modric’s return. “The plan is for Luka to play in the upcoming friendlies, but we’ll have to see how it goes. From what I saw last season, he can still play at the very highest level. He did very well, not only during the season but also at the World Cup,” he concluded.
