Naples, 14 July (LaPresse) – “This is the second time I’ve taken over a team from Antonio Conte; I hope it’s a good omen. In life, luck is important.” So said Napoli’s new manager, Massimiliano Allegri, at his presentation at the Teatro San Carlo. “Since President De Laurentiis took charge, Napoli have only been out of European competition for one year in the last 17 years; they’ve spent 10 years in the Champions League and six in the Europa League. In the last two years, they’ve won a Scudetto and a Super Cup, and they’re a team used to hard work. For me, it’s important to work calmly and lay the foundations to get us through to March, when seasons are decided. Staying in contention for all our objectives – the league, the Champions League and the Coppa Italia – would be very important,” he added. “The team is already strong; once I’ve assessed the whole squad, I’ll make my evaluations and we’ll discuss with the club what might be missing and what can be done to improve it. But the transfer market is the club’s responsibility,” the Livorno-born manager concluded.
