Rome, 12 July (LaPresse) – A war of words within the England camp between Jude Bellingham and Thomas Tuchel. At the end of the quarter-final in which the English side knocked Norway out in extra time, the manager made no secret of his disappointment with the performance of Kane and his team-mates: “We were lucky today. The way we played was sloppy; we made a lot of technical errors. None of this has anything to do with our mentality. We need to play better,” the manager said in his post-match comments. His player was quick to respond: “I don’t think that’s the case; perhaps he doesn’t know what it means to face a team with Haaland, Odegaard, Nusa, Sorloth… We’ve tried to create a positive atmosphere and we should carry that through as we head into the semi-finals. You don’t win every match by passing the ball around and making 1,000 passes; sometimes you have to win the ugly way, and tonight we did just that.”
