Rome, 11 July (LaPresse) – “The national team? I’d like to thank all the lads I’ve coached. They gave me their all. Football is made up of moments like this and there’s nothing we can do about it. As a player, I was a bit lucky, but now as a manager I’ve been dealt a real blow. It’s a huge disappointment; I won’t deny that the wound will remain until my final farewell because it was such a massive let-down. I must thank everyone who has stood by me because they’ve given me their all. The few good things we did were undone by the penalties, and nobody remembers them. I’ve been in this world for many years and I know that. There’s anger, but I’m confident – otherwise I wouldn’t be here.” So said Rino Gattuso, Lazio’s new manager, at a press conference on the day of his presentation.
