Rome, 16 March (LaPresse) – The Premier League has announced that Chelsea has been fined a total of £10.75 million and has been handed a suspended transfer ban for breaching financial regulations. The settlement agreements were reached after Chelsea voluntarily reported potential breaches to the Football Association, which came to light in 2022 when American investors Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital led a consortium to acquire the stake of former owner Roman Abramovich. The Premier League states that “it has been established that between 2011 and 2018, undeclared payments were made by third parties associated with the club to players, unregistered agents and other third parties”. The League further specifies that “these payments were not disclosed at the time to football’s regulatory authorities, including the Premier League”.
