Milan, 24 February (LaPresse) – ‘I have always greatly appreciated D’Aversa, especially his career at Parma. I followed him closely and with admiration’. These were the words of Torino president Urbano Cairo speaking at a press conference during the presentation of new coach Roberto D’Aversa. It was inevitable that the controversy would be discussed. ‘The environment is not the most favourable, but the team must find the strength and motivation within itself to turn the situation around and gain the support of the fans. They have done so many times in the past, we have incredible fans,’ said Cairo. ‘I see and hear the protests, we have to do things responsibly,’ said Cairo. ‘When you are president of an important club like Torino, you have to put out the fire. That’s what I have to do. Everything else is relative. When faced with difficulties, I am used to finding all the resources I can within myself.’ ‘Then again, I have an important responsibility to a million fans who love Torino. I have to honour this commitment when things go wrong and when they go right. I remember that with Juric we played for Europe twice, it was only three years ago. Let’s not throw everything away in an unconstructive way, it doesn’t help,’ Cairo added.
