Milan, 23 January (LaPresse) – ‘Due to weather conditions, the programme will start at 10.30am.’ The organisers of the Australian Open have announced that Saturday 24 January’s programme on the three main courts will start earlier than planned due to a heatwave alert in Melbourne, where scorching temperatures are expected. For this reason, Jannik Sinner will play for the first time in a daytime session, no earlier than 12:00 local time (2:00 a.m. Italian time) against Italian-born American Eliot Spizzirri on the Rod Laver Arena, which is equipped with a roof. For the same reason, the other two Italians, Lorenzo Musetti and Luciano Darderi, will take to the court even earlier. Musetti will open the programme at Melbourne Arena at 10:30 Australian time (00:30 in Italy) against Czech Tomas Machac, while Darderi will face Russian Karen Khachanov at the same time on Show Court Arena.
