Alpine skiing, World Cup: Franzoni third in the Wengen downhill. Odermatt wins
Turin, Jan 17 (LaPresse) – Giovanni Franzoni is back on the World Cup podium in Wengen. The day after his victory in the super-G, the Italian skier finished third in the downhill won by Marco Odermatt in a time of 1:33.14, ahead of Austria’s Vincent Kriechmayr, 79 hundredths back. Ninety hundredths off the winner came the Brescia-born athlete, who, starting with bib number 28, snatched the podium from another Swiss skier, Franjo von Allmen, fourth at 93 hundredths. A solid performance also from Dominik Paris, sixth and close to third place—96 hundredths behind Odermatt—in a very tight standings. Christof Innerhofer also did well, breaking into the top ten with an excellent tenth place, while Florian Schieder finished twelfth.
