Turin, 26 Dec. (LaPresse) – Mathieu van der Poel was flawless in the UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup. After victories in Namur, Antwerp and Koksijde, the world champion also triumphed in Gavere. On a fast course, he remained in the background until three laps from the finish, before decisively attacking Thibau Nys. At the start of the long climb towards the castle, Nys made a crucial riding error, after which Van der Poel launched a powerful attack uphill. The world champion immediately created a 12-second gap, which he gradually extended. Thanks to his aggressive riding, Nys secured second place, while the last place on the podium went to Tibor Del Grosso.
