Bergamo, Dec. 3 (LaPresse) – Atalanta have booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia thanks to a clear 4–0 victory at the New Balance Arena in Bergamo. Raffaele Palladino’s side will now face Juventus. Atalanta took the lead in the first half in the 19th minute with a winning header by Djimsiti from a Zalewski cross. The home team also struck the woodwork twice, first with a Pasalic header, then with a Maldini free kick. The former Milan player (who came on for Sulemana, forced off with a muscle injury) later squandered a great chance to double the lead. Genoa went down to ten men before the break: in the 36th minute Fini brought down Bellanova on the edge of the box, and after a VAR check the red card was confirmed. In the second half, despite being a man down, De Rossi’s team tried to react, but in the 54th minute Atalanta struck again with a masterpiece from De Roon. The Belgian midfielder blasted past Siegrist with a first-time right-footed volley from the edge of the area, assisted by Maldini. Not satisfied, Atalanta added a third in the 82nd minute, with Pasalic sliding in to turn home a left-footed diagonal effort from Scamacca. In stoppage time, it was the 17-year-old former Genoa player Ahanor who sealed the final 4–0 with a header. Palladino’s influence continues to bear fruit, as Atalanta claim their third consecutive win across Champions League, Serie A and Coppa Italia.
