Milan, Oct. 23 (LaPresse) – The surgical operation performed yesterday at La Madonnina Clinic in Milan on Marta Bassino was completely successful. The Piedmontese champion was operated on by Andrea Panzeri, President of the Physiotherapy Medical Commission, in collaboration with doctors Riccardo Accetta and Gabriele Thiebat. The fracture of the lateral tibial plateau in her left leg was reduced and fixed, with reinsertion of the medial collateral ligament.
From the coming hours, Bassino will begin the rehabilitation phase that will keep her off skis for at least four to six months. This is a major setback for Bassino. Considering the expected recovery time, the 29-year-old skier will not be able to participate in the Milan-Cortina Olympics scheduled for February.
