Fiorentina, Pioli: “Rumors of dressing room problems unfounded, team follows me”

Florence, Sept. 19 (LaPresse) – “The team is working very well and hard. If there were issues in the dressing room, I wouldn’t say this. Rumors that the team does not follow me in training are unfounded,” said Stefano Pioli, Fiorentina’s coach, at a press conference at Viola Park ahead of the match against Cesc Fabregas’ Como. On Sunday against the Lariano team, Pioli will be able to count on Moise Kean. The striker missed a training session due to a slight fever but has promptly recovered. Albert Gudmundsson is also available. Offensive options are therefore not lacking for Fiorentina, but the coach expects improvements in the team’s play to allow the forwards to perform at their best. “I think we created little in the first matches,” Pioli said. “It’s not just a matter of the attacking line. It means the play has not yet been fluid. We are working on this, as well as on being better and longer in the opponent’s half. We need to produce a more offensive, faster, and technically quality game.” Among Como players, special attention will be given to the Real Madrid-trained talent Nico Paz. “It’s difficult to contain a player like him,” Pioli explained. “He is strong and technical. At most, you can try to limit the number of balls he receives. We must be able to do this.” Finally, when asked about Como having 25 foreign players in the squad, because according to Fabregas there were few quality Italians available while Fiorentina in recent years has focused on Italians, Pioli replied: “I am surprised by what Fabregas said about Italian players. I hope Fiorentina’s choices are the right ones and that we can be proven more right than him.”
