Athletics, Abodi: ‘Furlani already excels, he’s on Sinner’s path’

Rome, 18 September (LaPresse) – Mattia Furlani, gold medallist in the long jump at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, ‘has already demonstrated excellence, including as a person, in a sports project focused on him that takes into account federal support but also the ability to manage a technical talent that will take him even further’. This was stated by the Minister of Sport, Andrea Abodi, on the sidelines of the presentation of the Petanque World Championships in Rome. ‘There are those who have given a lot and are slowing down, as is normal in the life of an athlete,’ he added, ‘and there are new recruits who are taking up the mantle of excellence. The movement has the ability to regenerate itself and positively support the weight of generational change.’ On the comparison with Sinner, who is also young and successful, Abodi said: ‘Furlani is on the right track to prove what Jannik has already proven, both on and off the court.’
