Germans took the lead on a penalty kick by Gundogan in the 33rd minute, the Japanese equalized with Doan in the 75th minute and Asano’s decisive goal in the 83rd minute. Prior to the match, Germans protest against Fifa: players were photographed with their hands over their mouths after being banned from wearing the ‘One Love’ armband to promote support for the Lgbtq+ community.
