All six Premier League clubs ask out of Super League
The Super League project could collapse within hours of its birth. Perhaps frightened by the media storm, by the threats from Uefa and Fifa and from many national governments, many clubs would already be rethinking us.
Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City and Tottenham deserted the proposal to launch a largely-closed league. “Given the current circumstances,” the Super League said in a statement, “we shall reconsider the most appropriate steps to reshape the project.”
Manchester City announced on Tuesday evening that they had renounced the project, confirming that they have formally started the procedures for the withdrawal from the group. “I am happy that Manchester City are back in the European football family.” Thus in a note the UEFA president, Aleksander Ceferin, after the statement of the English club where the desire to no longer join the Super League was manifested.
