Naples, 3 Nov. (LaPresse) – On pensions, “the game is still on: 850 million isn’t enough”; the funding “must be increased” to “allow retirement at 64”. This was stated by the Under-Secretary for Labour, Claudio Durigon, in an interview with Il Sole 24 Ore. “We will fight to ensure our proposal on retirement at 64 is accepted. The funds,” he explains, “may only be sufficient for the first year; more are needed to implement the mini pension reform. Retirement at 64 is a necessity for workers across all sectors and is also needed to encourage turnover with younger workers. After all, the incentives to stay in work have not yielded significant results. Of the 7,500 applicants for the Giorgetti bonus, only 1,100 actually received it. We need a generational change in the face of the challenge posed by artificial intelligence, and we will fight in Parliament to secure more resources and greater flexibility regarding retirement.”
