Rome, 28 Oct. (LaPresse) – “There are two points that are non-negotiable for us. The first is that the programme must be discussed and the issues resolved first; the second is that, since we oppose the premiership system and are committed to the Constitution of the Republic, even if it is decided to hold primaries, the winner does not get to command but leads a pluralistic collective process”. Italian Left secretary Nicola Fratoianni said this while appearing on Start on SkyTg24. “Anyone who leads a coalition cannot simultaneously lead a party, beyond formal considerations. This is a requirement that will be expected. It is not a question of formal incompatibility, but of role. If someone leads the coalition, that is their job. Do they do it as party secretary? That is legitimate, but the role they must be able to interpret and fulfil is that of leading a pluralistic coalition”, he concluded.
