(LaPresse) – “It seems to me that these celebrations are a slap in the face for many Italians who are struggling.” So said M5S leader Giuseppe Conte in an interview with *Il Messaggero*, commenting on the FdI event in Bari marking the government’s 1,413 days in office. “These are boomerang celebrations, counterproductive for Meloni herself,” the former prime minister emphasised. “Reminding people that you lead the longest-serving government in history, whilst you have achieved nothing for your country, have not carried out any reforms and have not improved Italy or the lives of its citizens, only serves to highlight your total incompetence.” “In light of all this and everything else, we are preparing our alternative with particular dedication. We will soon have our manifesto, and we have great faith in the feedback we will receive from the public based on what we want to achieve and what we are capable of doing,” explains the M5S leader. The progressive camp, he continues, “must now work to build a governing alternative that stands united not only to endure but also to truly govern, to change the country for the better”. “It is up to us to oust this government and then turn the page. We will make a clean break from the disasters surrounding rearmament and the weakening of safeguards against corruption and crime, and we will propose an Italy that protects the impoverished middle class, workers without rights, and businesses that want to grow,” concludes Conte.
