“Violence against women: man released from prison in Turin after abuse allegations; Nordio sends inspectors”

Milan, Sept. 1 (LaPresse) – Regarding the case of the man who was released after spending two nights at Turin’s ‘Lorusso e Cutugno’ prison, following allegations that he abused two women in less than 40 minutes, one of whom is a 13-year-old girl, Minister of Justice Carlo Nordio said: “I note that the decision by the preliminary investigations judge (GIP) falls within the scope of the autonomy and independence of the judiciary, which I cannot and must not interfere with.” The Justice Minister added: “Nevertheless, given the exceptional nature of the case and the public alarm it has caused, I have ordered the deployment of inspectors to gather all relevant assessments.”
