Roma, Aug. 13 (LaPresse) – “After the extraordinary world records achieved at the European Swimming Championships, I have decided to appoint Sara Curtis Ambassador of Sports Diplomacy. Joining her will be diver Chiara Pellacani, winner of no fewer than five gold medals at the continental championships in Paris. Two extraordinary young women, worthy representatives of Italy around the world. The recognition will be presented at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs during the ‘Italian Sports Day in the World’ on September 14.” Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani wrote this on social media. “A new swimming star has been born and she is our Sara Curtis. In two days, she has made history in this sport by setting two world records in the 50m backstroke and winning the gold medal at the European Championships in Paris. Italy is proud of you, congratulations Sara!”, Tajani wrote.
