Milan, 22 July (LaPresse) – A protest by the Five Star Movement (M5S) in the Senate chamber followed this morning’s decision by the Chamber of Deputies’ Committee on Authorisation to Proceed to reject the seizure of chat messages between FdI MP and former Under-Secretary of State for Justice, Andrea Delmastro Delle Vedove, and Mauro Caroccia concerning the ‘Bisteccherie d’Italia’ case. “For us, today’s proceedings end here,” said the Movement’s group leader, Paolo Pirondini. Following this, the Five Star Movement senators occupied the government benches and held up placards reading ‘Release the chats’. A video shows Fratelli d’Italia senator Roberto Menia snatching one of these placards from Pirondini’s hands right next to the government benches. This was followed by a scuffle between the two, with some senators stepping in to prevent them from coming into contact, whilst chants of “Shame, shame” rang out. The sitting was suspended.
