Rome, 14 July (LaPresse) – The opposition parties have formally requested that the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Lorenzo Fontana, ensure that the draft bill on electoral reform is voted on in its entirety by secret ballot. The request, put forward by the leaders of the parliamentary groups of the Democratic Party, the Five Star Movement and the Green and Left Alliance – Chiara Braga, Riccardo Ricciardi and Luana Zanella – concerns all amendments, articles and the final vote on the bill. In the letter sent to Fontana, the group leaders refer to Articles 51(3) and 49(1) of the Chamber’s Rules of Procedure, requesting that the entire voting process for Bill No. 2822 and the accompanying texts, containing provisions on the election of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate of the Republic, take place by secret ballot.
