Rome, 4 June (LaPresse) – “I am very sorry, and I always am when someone decides to leave. We will continue to work towards a pluralistic, inclusive PD, and of course without abandoning the clear mandate we have been given to pursue a clear and progressive course, whilst always taking care to preserve its pluralism, which is a core value.” So said PD Secretary Elly Schlein, arriving at the launch of the book “L’Italia che non arriva a fine mese” (Italy that can’t make ends meet), following the departure of MEP and Vice-President of the European Parliament Pina Picierno from the Democratic Party. ‘Is the PD no longer the home of reformists? I do not share this view of today’s Democratic Party; it will continue to be pluralistic and inclusive, to nurture its diverse political cultures and sensibilities, and to express a clear line on the constitutional fundamentals that we must implement to the full,’ she replied.
