From the historic deeds of the Risorgimento to today’s operational theaters, the Bersaglieri confirm very high professionalism, offering in international missions and in support of national security a valuable contribution that confirms them as a key element of the military instrument.” This is stated in the message sent by the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella to the President of the National Bersaglieri Association, Army Corps General Giuseppe Nicola Tota. “In the year marking the fiftieth anniversary of the Friuli earthquake, I renew my praise for the commendable work of the Association in connecting generations and preserving a precious heritage of values, in grateful memory of the generous dedication and humanity with which the Bersaglieri distinguished themselves in providing assistance to the affected populations at the time,” he adds. “In paying a moved thought to the fallen of the Corps, whose sacrifice for the independence and freedom of the Homeland remains a fundamental ethical reference for those who today proudly wear the crimson flames, I pay respectful homage to the Banner of the Association that brings them together and represents them.
