Fuel, Fratoianni: ‘Hostages to fossil fuels – we need a shift towards renewables’

Rome, 2 May (LaPresse) – ‘A new decree today cutting excise duties? I don’t know how else we can tell this government to remind it that if Italy remains dependent on the fossil fuel economy, it will remain fragile and at the mercy of energy companies, trapped in a vicious cycle triggered by the illegal wars of its friend Trump.’ This was stated by Nicola Fratoianni of AVS on Skytg24. ‘I think a change of direction is needed,’ continues the Red-Green leader, “and that even crises must be seen as an opportunity and a necessity to move in a different direction. We must do as Spain has done, for example, and – concludes Fratoianni – as Italy could have done had it heeded the proposals on the table to increase energy production from alternative sources decisively, not over centuries but within a few years.”
