Rome, 13 April (LaPresse) – “Your Holiness’s mission to countries yearning for reconciliation and hope will serve to express confidence and support for those who – in contexts that are sometimes very difficult, including for the prospects of interfaith dialogue – are committed to promoting the values of respect and harmonious coexistence, which are essential foundations for building a future of stability for the benefit and protection of all. The powerful call for peace, so urgent in such troubled times, alongside the invitation to unity and brotherhood, will help to foster an awareness of the indispensable contribution that every individual and every community is called upon to make in order to overcome divisions and safeguard human dignity. I am certain that no one can remain indifferent to these solemn appeals, addressed above all to the younger generations, who are called upon to assume responsibility and experience the joy of becoming a fruitful seed of social and economic progress for their respective countries and communities.” So said the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, in a message sent to Pope Leo XIV on the occasion of his departure for an apostolic journey to four African countries. “With these best wishes,” concluded the President of the Republic, “I renew to you, Your Holiness, my deepest esteem and personal regard.”
