Rome, 29 March (LaPresse) – ‘The Security Decree is working. The preventive detention ordered for 91 individuals from the anarchist movement, deemed dangerous and who had travelled to Rome for a demonstration not authorised by the police headquarters in memory of the two anarchists who died on 19 March in the explosion of a device they were assembling, confirms just how necessary this measure was.’ Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni wrote this on social media. ‘It does not serve to restrict the freedom to demonstrate, as certain sections of the left claimed. On the contrary, it serves to ensure that demonstrations take place peacefully and non-violently, as provided for by the Constitution, and to protect those who wish to exercise that right in a civilised manner, without violence and without destruction,’ she added. ‘It is in this direction that the Government will continue to move: more tools to ensure safety for all and greater protection for those who wish to demonstrate peacefully,’ concludes Meloni.
