Gaza, Conte: ‘It is not dignified for Italy to participate in the Board of Peace’

Rome, 18 February (LaPresse) – ‘It is not dignified for Italy to participate in an instrument that is certainly not aimed at bringing peace to that land. It is real estate speculation to the detriment of the Palestinians and offers no prospect of social development for them.’ These were the words of Giuseppe Conte, president of the Five Star Movement, on the sidelines of the presentation of Nico Piro’s book ‘Uno strano dono’ (A Strange Gift) at the Senate. ‘Italy must not be there,’ continued the former Prime Minister, “for its own dignity, just as other European countries are not there, except for Meloni’s friend Orban’s Hungary. The fact that Meloni is sneaking in through the side door rather than the front door makes it even less dignified for our country. Meloni should revive our country’s noble tradition of diplomacy, but instead she continues to wreak havoc in foreign policy.”
