Referendum, Nordio: ‘Maruotti’s post is disgusting, no dialogue with unworthy interlocutors’

Rome, 26 January (LaPresse) – “The Secretary General of the National Magistrates Association, Rocco Maruotti, had the audacity to associate the image of a tragic event in Minneapolis with the reasons and objectives of our reform. We hope that the majority of magistrates will throw this disgusting message into the dustbin of shame. It offends not only the Government and Parliament but also those who administer justice.” This was the response of Justice Minister Carlo Nordio to a post published on his Facebook page by the Secretary General of the ANM, in which he linked the events in Minneapolis to the justice reform. “This initiative risks undermining the climate of reasonableness and calm that we have always hoped for in the run-up to the referendum. If this offensive behaviour continues, we will have to acknowledge that dialogue with such unworthy interlocutors would be irreparably compromised”.
