Rome, 24 January (LaPresse) – Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani have ordered the recall to Rome of Italy’s ambassador to Switzerland, Gian Lorenzo Cornado, to determine further action to be taken in relation to the decision by the Sion Court of Coercive Measures to release Jacques Moretti after the tragedy in Crans-Montana. This was announced by Palazzo Chigi. The Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister instructed the Italian Ambassador to Switzerland, Gian Lorenzo Cornado, to immediately contact the Attorney General of the Canton of Valais, Béatrice Pilloud, to convey the “strong indignation” of the Government and Italy at the decision of the Court of Coercive Measures in Sion to release Jacques Moretti, “despite the extreme seriousness of the crime of which he is suspected, the heavy responsibilities that weigh on him, the persistent danger of flight and the obvious risk of further contamination of the evidence against him”. This was announced by Palazzo Chigi, which reiterated: “This decision is a serious offence and a further wound inflicted on the families of the victims of the Crans-Montana tragedy and those who are still in hospital. The whole of Italy is clamouring for truth and justice and is calling for respectful measures to be taken in the wake of this disaster, which take full account of the suffering and expectations of the families”.
