Mattarella: ‘The EU is the path to follow without hesitation’

Rome, 19 December (LaPresse) – “The issue of international politics, alliances, choosing Europe as the path to follow without hesitation. And this is not only because of the commitments we have made by signing the Treaties. We are well aware that the Union has some problems and many opponents. Only Europe can preserve and give a future to the achievements that states have guaranteed for decades with their legal systems. There are an increasing number of major problems in our time that cannot be governed or resolved by individual states. Not even the richest, largest or most militarily powerful of the European countries can act alone in this changing world. These were the words of the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, speaking at the end-of-year ceremony with representatives of the institutions, political forces and civil society.
