Middle East: Fassino, denying Palestinian statehood distances peace

Milan, 7 December (LaPresse) – ‘Denying Palestinians the possibility of having their own homeland, as Prime Minister Netanyahu stated again today, is a serious mistake that can only lead to new conflicts and offer Hamas and Islamic extremism the opportunity to use legitimate Palestinian irredentism to relaunch the fight against Israel’s existence.’ This statement was made by Piero Fassino, member of the Italian Democratic Party and chairman of the Middle East Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
