Lega, Vannacci: “They talk nonsense, my votes are inconvenient”

Milan, Oct. 16 (LaPresse) – “Many talk nonsense, maybe my votes are inconvenient and someone sees me as an outsider.” So said MEP and deputy secretary of the Lega party, Roberto Vannacci, in an interview with Repubblica. “I don’t see a new party on the horizon,” he said. “In Tuscany, the result wasn’t exactly positive, but can anyone tell me what the result would have been if I hadn’t led the election campaign? No one. So many, perhaps too many, are talking nonsense. Just one point: in Tuscany during the 2024 European elections, the Lega had 6.2%, with 102,750 total votes, and I alone received 37,340. If you remove my votes, the Lega would have had 3.9%. In these regional elections, I wasn’t on the lists, and the 4.3% already represents a small step forward compared to the 2024 European result, without my votes.” Does he feel someone in the Lega sees him as an outsider? “I don’t, but maybe someone feels that way about me. Everywhere I go, Lega supporters – and others – greet me with enthusiasm. I have invitations from all over Italy for the next six months. Maybe it’s my 560,000 votes that are inconvenient for some.” Top candidate for the Lega in Puglia? “Stop believing what newspapers write, especially what Repubblica writes. You told us Kamala Harris had won and that the Russians were losing in Ukraine…”
