Party decorations spark a feud
(LaPresse) – A man has died after being shot after an argument at a birthday party in Foz do Iguacu, Brazil’s border with Argentina and Paraguay. The victim, Marcelo Arruda, 50, a Workers’ Party activist was celebrating his birthday in a private hall decorated with campaign symbols in favor of former President Lula. Jorge José da Rocha Guaranho, a prison guard approached the entrance of the venue, extolling President Jair Bolsonaro. An altercation broke out between the two, Guaranho was removed and then returned to the venue, armed with a gun and shot Arruda, who was also armed at that point. The Lula supporter returned fire but got the worst of it and died while the gunman was seriously injured and is hospitalized.
