No apology, no remorse as Johnson limps out of party leadership, but refuses to give up premiership

(LaPresse) It’s over. Britain’s most controversial prime minister in a quarter century is gone. In politics no one is “remotely indispensable,” “our brilliant, Darwinian system will produce another leader.” British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said this as he announced his resignation. Johnson said he will remain in office until the Tories have chosen a new leader, even as his closest former aides told him he must resign immediately to save their party. Applause from his supporters while opponents protested and hailed him.
