Rome, 4 Nov. (LaPresse) – “Imbalances linked to economic development that is neither equitable nor respectful of creation” represent a “threat to world peace”. Pope Leo XIV highlighted this during Wednesday’s general audience. In his catechesis, Prevost reflected on the ‘Constitution Gaudium et spes: Faith and Social, Political and Economic Life’. Referring to the document, the Pope emphasised that, “technical development alone is not enough to correct the course; ‘many reforms are required in the structures of economic and social life, and a change in mentality and lifestyle is also necessary on the part of everyone’”. Leone added, still referring to the conciliar document, that “the calls to commit to eliminating discrimination against the most vulnerable social groups and migrants are more relevant than ever”.
