Milan, 28 Oct. (LaPresse) – Youssef Siher, the 30-year-old detained for being the administrator of the ‘Movimento 17 ottobre’ social media channel, walked out through the rear entrance of San Vittore prison in Milan at 4.30 pm. He made no statement to the numerous journalists present. A group of activists was waiting for him, including the president of Palestinians in Italy, Khader Tamimi. Some of them hastily blocked several reporters. His release came following a decision by Milan’s investigating magistrate, Tiziana Landoni, who today did not validate the arrest and rejected the request for pre-trial detention in prison put forward by public prosecutor Francesca Crupi. In the judge’s view, there is currently no serious evidence of guilt nor any real risk of him absconding. Siher had been arrested on Saturday night on charges of incitement to commit a criminal offence, aggravated by the aim of terrorism, and of organised violence during public demonstrations.
