Rome, Sept. 12 (LaPresse) – “May the progress of our time leave no new ruins in its wake” and “may whatever we build truly be a home and a refuge for everyone, starting with those most in need.” This was the appeal made by Pope Leo XIV, who this morning received the participants in the meeting ‘Fratelli Tutti: North-South Socio-Environmental Dialogue’ in audience. “Faced with technological development,” the Pope continued, “the decisive question is not simply whether we accept or reject certain tools, but what kind of humanity we want to build and what role each person will have in it. A responsibility of such magnitude exceeds the capabilities of any single institution.” Hence the appeal to “recover the logic of subsidiarity with renewed strength, recognizing the appropriate responsibility of each actor and, at the same time, the need to cooperate.”
