Milan, 30 August (LaPresse) – He was wanted internationally for drug trafficking but was on holiday by the lake in Sirmione, in the Brescia area. It was officers from the local Carabinieri station, carrying out spot checks, who tracked down a Turkish visitor yesterday – with the help of the databases used by police forces in the Schengen area – whilst he was on holiday with his family on the Brescia side of Lake Garda. The man, identified as B.S., aged 43, was found to be wanted internationally following an arrest warrant issued by his country of origin for international drug trafficking. He was immediately taken to the Carabinieri Company Headquarters in Desenzano del Garda to be served with the international arrest warrant, whereupon he was arrested. After spending his first night in a holding cell, the 43-year-old is now at the disposal of the Italian judicial authorities for the validation of his provisional detention and for his subsequent extradition to Turkey.
